Well, the cab ride to the airport is one I will Always remember. Of course the driver was not American, which is not a big deal but I think if he had of been he would have understood I was almost to the point of passing out. The Bears were playing a home game so downtown was more than busy. The roads are closed and made one way, etc. Well, he tooted his horn from the time we got in until we got out. The traffic directors are not the police so he said he could do what he wanted. He attempted to get the traffic director to "let" him turn by tooting the horn "at" her. She told him no he could not turn, he said fine and went up the street and made a u-turn in fromt of four cars coming at us. Of course I screamed and then all the sudden we were back at the intersection with the traffic director that would not let him turn. He stopped looked at her tooted and we went on. I thought ok I made it throught that...well I kept turning around looking for the sirens that I knew were chasing us....all the way to the airport we were going 80+ miles an hour, bubba flipping us off in the lane next to us, I bursted out into "Amazing Grace".
I was laying in Kallie's lap with the window down, almost in tears thinking to myself I know we do not get to pick when and where we die but I do not want to die on the freeway in the outskirts of Chicago needlessly. Well, the cab driver looks back at me, not because I was singing out the TOP of my lungs but because I was laying in Kallies lap. and he said "sorry I will slow down I don't mean to scare you." Well he did for maybe 15 seconds and I was still looking out the back window for the police because I could still hear sirens. We finally make it to the airport..the "sirens" I kept hearing was the rearend of the cab falling out of it, only a mechanics wife would finally realize this! I have never been so proud to walk on a sidewalk in my LIFE.
Why I am blogging......
I started this blog to up-date others on the day-to-day events of our family. As the children grew older, and I grew wiser, I realized I wanted to change my direction, and the children wanted to be ommitted from the blog completely. I hope to still manage to include them from time to time but perhaps just through pictures. I am searching for my niche, and way to help lighten the load of others and perhaps lead others to my savior, Jesus Christ. I am focusing on "What really matters" and hopefully, I can help others in some small productive way. While I am changing gears, I will still be throwing in random thoughts, recipes and etc. I am glad you stopped by and bear with me, as I begin to grow and span my wings and fly in a new direction!

Chicago for My Birthday....
I can't rotate it-but this was a $1300 dress just hanging on a rack in Neimen Marcus. I ate a cookie there-of course and even ate lunch also. :)
Just one of the many (300 + pics I took.

I didn't get the Memo...
Ok I know I have ranted on this subject before, but like a Mother does, I think I need to go over it again! I did not receive the memo that said "it is ok to wear your pjs shopping". I was, where else, but Wal-mart Wednesday returning something and there was a young girl with her baby, which by the way the baby was dressed well, but Mom had on Elmo fleecy pjs. Kids today need to be told it is not ok to wear your bed clothes out, unless going to the mail box. Where has common sense gone? More than likely the girl didn't have a Mom to tell her that it is not ok, or she is at the age that she won't listen, either way, this is a pet peeve of mine, and I am not ever going to get use to pjs in public. Now I might be through ranting, and venting.:)
I do not like winter, I have to say it again, I do not like winter. I think I will buy some flowers for the kitchen just to remind me Spring is coming. Have a good day. love and peace to all.

Baby it is COLD outside...Summer please
I am NOT a fan of winter. Snow or not I am a hot weather girl. I can't stand to stay in the cabin-cabin fever hits quickly and then I eat and become miserable even quicker. The picture reminds me of hot, summer days. Oh how I would love to be somewhere hot and tropical. It is fun to day dream about being on an island just taking it easy!!! Hitting the powerball is a MUST-but I have to play it and I don't understand how?!!!
Getting back to work is hard!!! I have just done my own thing on my time off and did not get one thing on my list accomplished. I let HGTV and Barefoot Contessa (i love love love her) Nash Bridges, and the Price is Right take my time!!! But seriously needed to get back into a routine, but I think gradually easing back is a better answer. You know a few hours a day, kinda like Kindergarten phase in!!!! When I become Queen of the planet (hee hee) I will make that a rule!!
The washer and iron is calling me so I must go. Maybe I will use the steam on the iron and pretend I am somewhere balmy. peace and love to all

Reflecting 2009 in review
A lot, as always, has happened with the Haley family in 2009. Kallie started college, Kyle began 10th grade. We were at the lake every weekend along with D & D. We always have the best time, just swimming, grilling, talking and delaying coming home especially on Sunday evenings when we know Monday morning is lurking! The kids were usually along too, Kallie and Evan and crew in their boat, Kyle seldom in our boat but very often with someone. Great times and great memories have been made at the lake. We have our favorite spots, mine being Cedar Creek, which is a long boat ride from Ragland but in my opinion well worth it. Eagle Creek is good also but tends to get crowded and I get nervous with everyone in the water and all the boats coming through. I thought I wanted to tube one day but decided quickly I am not up for that and returned to the boat abruptly. Kallie laughs and loses patience with me and Kyle of course, rolls his eyes and says "Mama no" get in the boat, which I did!! We most always go to eat with D & D on Friday nights, and usually the whole family plus friends come along. I love that we can catch up from the weekend before and tell "war" stories of the week. I do KNOW for Sure family and friends are the MOST important part of life.
Dan Miller died this year, along with Farrah, Michael, and many many soldiers and loved ones. The memories they have left are daily reminders of their journey on earth.
Many prayers were answered for a sweet young lady, Gracie. God on his terms and time took "care" of a lot of people when Bill and Michelle were awarded full custody. I am thankful for my friendship with Michelle as well as answered prayers.
It is funny to me that as I began reflecting on 2009 I thought most of the lake and not the things that bothered me the most. I guess that goes to show good times definitely out weigh the bad. It is a matter of attitude and gratitude, huh, maybe I am gaining wisdom along the way.
I plan to share my experiences in Chicago soon. Kallie, Alesha and myself had a great time one weekend. More to follow. Happy New Year. love and peace to all

A New Year
I am just blown away thinking 2009 has almost slipped away!!! Yeah I know as we get older time flies and etc. But really it was just last week or so that I was thinking about starting a new year 2009!!!
Of course the same ole things are reoccurring on the list to conquer and achieve-lose weight, exercise, be a better person, count my blessing. But as I grow wiser I think of things that I have never thought of before. For instance, how God works in his own way, time and things just don't happen. His hand is in everything, I just have to be in focus and see it. It is my responsibility to grow and mature in him. With that being said, no I am not on some religious high horse, I am just reflecting and seeing I have a LOT of room for improvement. I am thankful for GRACE. (God's Riches At Christ Expense) I am starting to realize I am NEVER going to be good enough or smart enough to enter heaven but I must try my best and let God handle everything else.
I am going to become a better blogger-this is the only way I can stay in touch with others as well as myself. love and peace to all
